I was Raped...

...intellectually. Happened yesterday in my workplace. My team was discussing with the so-called 'subject matter expert' (rather the expert was giving us gyaan). The topic was US regulations with regard to outsourcing. And the expert made a factual blunder. I tried correcting it - politely. And he barked at me- rudely. I felt violated..felt like I was being raped. The whole incident was over in less than two minutes.

However, the anguish it caused was made unbearable by my teammates who were mute spectators to the show, who didn't have the intellectual spine ('knowledge') to stand up for me. And even worse, they asked me to keep quiet - not to fight back.
I screamed - silently...

'Intellectual spine'...donno about ur teammates, but good that you have a strong one...tinkerbells...
Hope such rapes will not weaken it.. rather let the hammer strengthen the iron

I don't know how you would understand how it feels to be violated (or rather 'raped'as you most dramatically put), unless you have experienced it (I hope you don't have to). Just because someone 'barked' at you, if you feel violated, then you should sit at home.
Intellectual spine - I agree that you may feel that you know the matter better than your colleagues. Maybe true as well. But if they don't know enough, like you claim, why should they support you anyway?

Anyway, just as the previous anon suggested, don't take it at heart... Fight and don't scream silently. Might as well go down barking... Or keep peace and live to fight another day...

BTW, Tinkerbells, love your posts... Keep it up...

@anon:Thanks for the inspiration, pal.

@Jops:Typical comment ..."If YOU don't want to be violated, then YOU sit at home." Does that mean if you get out, then be prepared to be humiliated and killed?...I don't agree...And as far as experiencing rape goes...yea, for me my intelligence is as sacrosanct as my physical body...for each his/her own..so peace, my friend...Thnks for loving my posts :)
