Replacements

When a chauffeur's board replaces a warm welcome smile,
When a strip of medicines by the bedside replaces a loving tender hand on a burning forehead,
When money replaces "being there" ....

A passionate heart gets replaced by a cold stone :(

Corporate Learnings

I've always believed that you can learn something from everyone....even from your worst enemies, you can learn how not to behave !!! So here goes a quick list of lessons I have learned the hard way....

1. Ensure your team is well fed - In today's corporate world 12-16 hour work days are a norm rather than an exception. The least you can do, is to ensure that lunch and dinner is provided to your team on time. And yea, on time doesn't mean when YOU are hungry, it means when each person is hungry !!! Afterall, my stomach is far less sophisticated than my brain...so, even when I recognise you are the boss, my stomach doesn't ! And my brain IS totally controlled by my stomach.

2. Pass information at your own risk - Most people will not hesitate to use any information you provide to their advantage. So if you are saying something to someone, be prepared for the worst possible use of it...

3. Act !!! - The foundation stone of corporate world is built on what is called 'perc…

New Look

Yes !!! My blog has a new look now...I wanted to customise it further but realised my html is too rusty..so went the easy route and used one of the ready made templates available. But yea, by the end of the year, hopefully I would have mastered enough Adobe Photoshop and HTML to create a cool look...That's one more to my list of resolutions for the year !!!

Being Friends...

Does being your friend entail that I agree with whatever you say and support whatever you do? Is a true friend supposed to help resolve issues or pour fuel to fire? I wonder....

I wonder whether I should wish long term happiness for you (at the cost of pain today) or rather please you in the short term?

Even when I know the truth, the hurt and the sorrow you suffer can't I wish deep within that there is some hidden happiness which you can uncover ?

Just 'cos I spare a thought for people who hurt you, does it mean I don't think of you or understand your pain?

When you are confused whether to love or hate, should I encourage you to hate?

I really wonder ....'cos I care...and I care more deeply than most !!!

Life's Like That - 2

Lady barely survives the hectic work week by spinning dreams about the long weekend...

Thursday morning...

A bunch of colleagues plan to celebrate the long weekend in the land of gals, oceans and alcohol !!! Most of office is in a vacation mood already...

Thursday noon...

The party goers leave by lunch time, dumping work on the lady...the flight to Goa is around 3.00 pm... lady is upset that her flight home is only by late evening...

3.00 pm

Lady gets to know that the Goa flight is delayed....She feels irritated...if Goa flight is delayed then her own low cost ATR hardly has a hope...dreams of a good dinner slowly turn to a nightmare of angry and irritated passengers in the airport...Tries reaching the call centre...as usual no response...

5.30 pm

After finishing all her (and others') work , lady leaves for airport mentally getting prepared for the long weekend queue and even longer wait in the airport....

6.00 pm

Surprisingly the check-in queue is very short...Most flights are delayed...

Ironies of Life

A survey conducted to measure the "Happiness Quotient" in the team, revolving around questions of whether your efforts are getting recognized and due credit given....without giving credit to the designer of the survey....

A medical student on duty denied urgent medical aid. Reason given - staff shortage !

A vehement support given to a friend...to the extent of agreeing that "a friend's enemy is my enemy" ....without considering what this unknown enemy "feels"...

So many such instances in life, where the intention and result do not match...

I wonder... a little bit of extra sensitiveness in us, a willingness to see all sides of the story, a more open mind...can these overcome the bitter ironies of life? At least, the small everyday ones...
