As Life Moves On...

...there comes a time when you realise that even the last remnants of a fairytale have crumbled and fallen off...When your close friend goes through a divorce...when a classmate's kid succumbs to a terminal illness...When you don't know how to console...in fact, you don't even know whether to console...Maybe, they have moved on...After all, you get to know about it much later...After all, you don't communicate frequently...Your friendship is strong enough ...Or the acquaintance is weak enough...But in both cases, you assume the status quo won't change in 2-3 months...You live in a cocoon...You think you've kept them also inside it...that, somehow, the perils of life won't touch them...And then you realise you are wrong...And you stand perplexed...Wondering how to hold their hands...Realising they are already in a different world...You cannot touch their hearts...

And then in desperation you turn around and try to hold the hand that is still close to you...Lest you don't realise how it mutates overnite...And you realise adulthood brings in different priorities...You are not their priority...They don't want to hold your hand any more...They don't want to listen or see...Others have taken that place...Sometimes because you can't replace their precious old baggage...sometimes because you have become the old baggage that is no longer precious...

Sometimes all you need is a hug...a genuine reassurance..."Don't worry. You are safe while you are with me"...But adulthood doesn't offer such luxuries...

Life is a journey in which one is contantly alone.

is it? then why do we spend precious time trying to please others and win their approval? why do we feel happy when someone says "i love u" and feel upset when someone says " u r my worst nightmare come true"?
