And I Read...
The thinking and thought provoking philosopher Alex has tagged me.
The rules:
1. Name the person (of course with the link) who tagged you.
2. Publish the 5th paragraph of page 123 of the book you are currently reading. (if the page does not have 5th paragraph, take the last paragraph. And if the book doesn’t have page no. 123, take the last page.)
Well, I am taking the liberty to change the tag a bit...to quote what I like best in the book I am currently reading...'cos para 5 of page 123 is too long and too boring :)
And I Read...
"In the restorative idleness of solitude, on the other hand, the widows discovered that the honourable way to live was at the body's bidding, eating only when one was hungry, loving without lies, sleeping without having to feign sleep inorder to escape the indecency of official love, possessed at last of the right to an entire bed to themselves, where no one fought them for half the sheet, half of the air they breathed, half of their night, until their bodies were satisfied of dreaming their own dreams, and they woke alone. In the dawns of his furtive hunting, Florentino Ariza would see them coming out of five o'clock Mass, shrouded in black and with the raven of destiny on their shoulder. As soon as they spotted him in the light of dawn, they would cross the street to walk on the other side with their small, hesitant steps, the steps of a little bird, for just walking near a man might stain their honour. And yet he was convinced that a disconsolate widow, more than any other woman, might carry within her the seed of happiness."
That made me think - sometimes people whom we think are really happy carry deep sorrows within them and vice versa....Why is it that most often than not, the world empathises with the written/spoken story? What about the unwritten/unspoken one?
3. Tag five people.
Well, I am just tagging three - Bombay Dosti, (hoping she writes something) , T'sme (hoping she reads something :P) and BVN (hoping he reads this...hehe)

First of all the introduction makes me laugh though it is pleasing. :)
"Why is it that most often than not, the world empathises with the written/spoken story? What about the unwritten/unspoken one?"
Maybe, the world hears and sees only ones who speak loudly or maybe the world is blind to the 'unwritten' sorrows/ Maybe they do not see to really understand a person.
Official love-liked the way Marquez put that. :)
I am yet to read Marquezs books. Might not read them too.
Yea, I wonder why is herd mentality so strong in people, that trying to explore the unmapped areas of emotions is even considered insensitive/negative...maybe the risk/reward ratio is not worth it !
