God Vs Humans

A festival….in the name of a Goddess….only for women….where they cook an offering for Her…She who grants all your wishes…well, nothing wrong with that…except that over the years it has reached the levels of a mob frenzy…it closes down an entire city….as this mass cooking takes place on public roads…even railway platforms…and traffic is blocked….as they say “either you are with us or against us”…and this time, the organizers proudly claimed that this has even entered the “Guinness Book of World Records”…whoever said of faith being a private matter must be twisting in their graves…

Another festival…this time in the name of a God…who stays awake the entire year to watch over you…and then for one day you stay awake to watch over Him…nothing wrong here again…except that a whole bunch of Police force is spread out at night…and the devotees are running from one temple to another…most often jostling and elbowing the people running along with them…. wonder when did a prayer also become a rat race where you only see your target and the end justifies the means !!!

Well, these are just two instances from my own faith….But similar instances happen in all faiths…and I can never understand, how you can supposedly reach God by bypassing the humans near you !!! Maybe, because it is God’s Own Country ….
